Activity and function of the Department/ Section:

•   To conduct Parliament Election, Assembly Election & Bye-Elections in a free & fair manner and to ensure greater participation of the citizen for stronger democracy in a time-bound manner as per the guideline of Election Commission of India, Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, West Bengal.

•   To conduct Kolkata Municipal Corporation General Election, Municipality Election & Bye-Elections in a free & fair manner in a time-bound manner as per the guideline of the State Election Commission, West Bengal.

•   To supervise & monitoring the work of Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Roll / Continuous Updation of Electoral Roll for Inclusion/ Deletion/ Modification of electors in order to ensure that every eligible citizen is enrolled in Electoral Roll and also to ensure error-free Photo, Electoral Roll, in a time bound manner as specified by ECI & CEO, West Bengal.

•   To ensure speedy & timely enrolment of Service Electors by dispatching the prayers of Service Voters to the concerned Sub-Division offices.

•   Timely disposal of different types of complaints, RTI & court cases of Election-related works.

•   Various sub-allotment of funds on account of Revision, EPIC, De-duplication, the conduct of  General Assembly Election, Parliament Election, KMC Election, Municipality Election, and their Bye Election, adjustment of funds, Budget preparation, checking and clearance of the huge number of bills relating of various Election related works.

•   Maintenance of E.V.M.s of both ECI and State Election Commission in safe custody.

•   Reply of Audit Query.

•   Printing of Forms, Electoral Rolls, etc.

•   Operating of election-related District Call Centre.
